Reserve your foreign currency allocation through the Central Bank of Libya’s personal account reservation system. Select “Reserve in Foreign Currency Account”.

Wait for confirmation of the booking via the message “Approved…” followed by “Foreign currency purchase order executed”.

Fill out the transfer execution form (request) and provide the beneficiary’s full details and address, along with a copy of their valid passport.

You will receive a Money Transfer Number (MTCN) immediately upon completion of the transaction. Send this number to the beneficiary.

The (MTCN) number is the key to receiving funds and tracking the transfer status.

The beneficiary can withdraw the funds immediately from any Western Union branch worldwide using the (MTCN) number and a personal identification document.

Documents and general requirements

To complete the transfer, you will typically need to provide the following documents:

  • A completed transfer request form.
  • A copy of your valid passport.
  • A copy of your national ID card (stamped).
  • Two passport-size photos.
  • For businesses, additional documents such as a commercial registration and license may be required.

Important note: You can use the personal transfer limit of USD 10,000 per individual through this service.

Internal money transfer

To meet your local needs with complete flexibility, the Libyan Islamic Bank offers a domestic money transfer service. This service enables you to make direct and fast money transfers between personal and corporate accounts within the bank’s branch network spread throughout Libya, while maintaining the highest standards of security and reliability.

Methods of Domestic Transfer:

We offer you more than one way to make your domestic transfers, for an easy and efficient banking experience anytime, anywhere:

branches

Visit your nearest branch and fill out the standard transfer form. This method is suitable for large sums or transactions requiring direct consultation with bank staff.

via ATMs

For quick daily transfers, the bank’s ATMs offer an innovative service for sending money without the recipient’s card, using only their phone number:

  1. Insert your card and select “Other Services,” then “Additional Services.”
  2. Select “Send Money.”
  3. Enter the recipient’s phone number and the amount you wish to transfer.
  4. You will receive a receipt containing a unique security code, which must be sent to the recipient to withdraw the funds.

 

The recipient can easily withdraw the funds via the ATM by:

  1. Selecting “Cardless Services” on the screen.
  2. Entering their phone number and the security code you sent them.

 

Important note regarding limits: The maximum transfer limit using this method is 400 dinars per transaction, 800 dinars per day, and 12,000 dinars per month.
